7 Stud Hi-Lo Odds Program

Seven Card Stud Hi Lo (also called 7 Stud 8 or Better) is dealt in the same way as traditional Seven Card Stud. Players each receive three cards to begin the hand, two faced down and the third face up. A round of betting occurs followed by another card dealt face up. After each player has six cards, a final card is dealt, face down. In the end, each player has four exposed cards, and three "hole" cards.

Much like Omaha 8 or Better, 7 Stud Hi Lo splits the pot between the highest hand at the showdown and the lowest "qualifying" hand. In order for a hand to qualify, there must be five cards ranking 8 or less. Straights and Flushes do not count against you. It is not unusual for there to be no qualifying hand at the showdown.

Much like our 7 Stud Odds Program, the Hi Lo program does not deal every possible hand and report the results. There are simply too many computation for this to be feasible.
Instead, several million simulations are run, and the results are tallied. For greater accuracy, we allow users to run repeated simulations and we merge the results automatically.

If you are a Stud player interested in branching out, not only can you play Stud in hi/lo fashion, but you might find it just as easy to move into texas holdem. You can learn the texas holdem rules quickly. There are some differences in the betting. There are also less exposed cards to read, since players are sharing "community" cards. And, the games are plentiful at all limits.
